About this app

NYT Cooking is The New York Times Company's recipe app, with thousands of tested recipes ranging from quick weeknight dinners and vegetarian dishes to baking projects and holiday menus. Editors organize recipes into collections, new recipes and videos are published every day, and instructional videos walk through techniques. The digital Recipe Box lets cooks save favorites, organize dishes they want to try and build a grocery list, and a recent update added a new search landing page and the ability to share folders. The app is free to download, with full recipe access through a New York Times Cooking subscription available in the app. NYT Cooking added iPhone Duo support in version 4.172.0 on October 21, 2026, followed by iPhone Duo enhancements in version 4.173.0 the next day. Apple featured the app in its October 22, 2026 Newsroom post, describing a counter-friendly mode for a partially folded iPhone Duo, and quoted New York Times Cooking's general manager on following steps, setting timers and watching recipe videos with the phone propped up.
