Phrase

Phrase, from Eversight Studio, records or imports audio and turns it into a transcript and a structured note. It is aimed at two main groups: people who sit in meetings and want the decisions and action items written down, and students who want lecture recordings turned into study material. Recording happens on the device itself, so no bot joins a call, and the app also accepts PDFs, slides and up to eight photos of a whiteboard as sources for a note. Transcription covers more than 100 languages, and the transcript stays attached to the note with timestamps and speaker labels, so any line can be checked against the original audio. Notes are regular editable documents rather than fixed summaries. Phrase does not require an account; notes are stored locally, and the Pro subscription adds iCloud sync, an assistant that can search across notes, flashcards, quizzes, slide decks and actions such as adding to-dos to Reminders, which the app confirms before carrying out. The same subscription covers iPhone, iPad and a native Mac app, and there is an Apple Watch app for recording. On iPhone Duo, version 1.5.0 (September 27, 2026) was the first release to state support, and the developer's website says the app works on both displays, folded or open, keeping your place and audio playback when the phone is folded or unfolded.

Phrase's 1.5.0 release notes (September 27, 2026) state that the app now supports iPhone Duo, and versions 1.6.0 and 1.7.0 mention optimized layouts for new devices such as iPhone Duo. The developer's website says Phrase works on iPhone Duo on both displays, folded or open, and that when you fold or unfold the phone you keep your place and the audio keeps playing. An image on the site shows a meeting note on the folded outer display with the playback controls arranged in a column beside it. DuoDiscover has not yet tested Phrase on an iPhone Duo.
