About this app
Dark Noise is an ambient noise app for sleeping, focusing or relaxing, aimed at anyone who wants steady background sound at bedtime, while working, or simply to unwind. It offers a library of more than 50 high-quality sounds, and each one is represented by its own animated icon that reflects what you are hearing.
Sounds can be layered into custom mixes, and a timer can fade playback out so the noise stops before you wake. The app leans on system integration: sounds and mixes can be started with Siri and Shortcuts, including on HomePod, played over AirPlay, or launched from interactive Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets with many customization options.
There are ten color themes, including a True Black option for dark rooms, and more than 20 alternative app icons. Dark Noise is free to download, with in-app purchases, and the developer says more is on the way.
Version 3.6.1, released on October 17, 2026, added support for iPhone Duo with redesigned layouts.
