Volet

Volet is a design studio for decorating iPhone Duo while the app is running. Its name comes from the hinged leaf of a diptych, and each design, called a piece, covers three parts of the phone: the outer cover display, the two halves of the open inner display with the crease between them, and the motion that plays as you fold. Pieces are assembled from blocks such as the time (as a dial, digits or words), the date, your own text and photos, a countdown, the current moon phase, shapes and battery level, placed over colors, grained gradients or photographs, using fonts built into iOS. You tap to select, drag to arrange, and use a Fold slider to preview hinge animations. Eight example pieces are included. Each design carries a small seal with your initials, and pieces can be shared as .volet files that open directly in the app and credit the original. Volet does not replace the system wallpaper or Home Screen. On other iPhones you can design, preview and share pieces and display the open spread. The free version includes all examples, blocks and hinge motions plus up to three of your own pieces; Volet Pro adds unlimited pieces, extra materials and crease styles by subscription or one-time purchase. There are no accounts, ads or tracking.

The developer's App Store description says a Volet piece dresses three faces of iPhone Duo: the cover, shown when the phone is closed or standing and cut to the cover display's silhouette around the camera; the spread across the open inner display and its crease; and the hinge, where blocks part, rise, turn or drift as you fold. Standing the closed phone on its edge keeps the cover lit like a desk clock. Volet only works while open and does not change the Home Screen or wallpaper. DuoDiscover has not yet tested Volet on a device.
